Remember when this video came out there were people who heard the voice at the end and thought the voice was either Sammy or the Ink Demon? Man, those were the days. However with all due respect, I'm glad neither case was right in the end lol.

On this day 5 years ago, "Unknown - April 14th" was posted on YouTube, which means it's been 5 damn years since we first heard from Wilson...

It's interesting to think that even though it's been 5 years, we've only known who Wilson really is for 2 years now (or more appropriately, 1 year and 5 months of those 5 years). Of course, now, after BATDR was released, we know who he is and what his place is in the Bendy universe. But between April 1, 2019 and November 1, 2022, all we knew about him was that he…existed. He was someone - someone bad apparently - who sounded old and who would have some relevance in the plot of Dark Revival. And that's it. We had no name, no appearance, nothing. He was someone, but we didn't know who.

It's no wonder he was only referred to as "Unknown" by fans during these 3 and a half years.

In the end, I would say that this drawing is a mix of 2 things. The first being the result of an idea I've had for a while, which is basically making a drawing in relation to the original video/"unknown" tape, but this time with Wilson, since now we know it was recorded by him. Plus it's been 5 years since the original upload,5 years of Wilson. I think this would be the perfect time to do this.

And second, a strange kind of redux/homage/"final chapter" in this kind of "collection" of drawings I did between 2019 and 2022 all based on the idea of "the unknown weirdo from BATDR saying How Very Interesting Such Knowledge" and so on. All of them having other characters in mind in the role of the Unknown. And now, here I am, redoing this idea again, only with The Man Himself this time. The real Unknown. Now as the Known, so to speak.

Going back to what I said before, you can see this drawing as a kind of farewell to this particular idea that I've kind of repeated over the years, as I've now done it again only with Wilson this time. (Does this mean I'll never draw this concept/line of thought again? I mean, I assume so. But there's no guarantee I can't make something similar again down the line. Who knows what the future holds. We will see what happens in the next 5 years.)

But,yeah. 5 years of Such Knowledge™.

2013 — Unoffical Tumblr event “Mishapocalypse” happened, an online flash mob event wherein which Tumblrinas change their profile pictures to a specific picture of Misha Collins of Supernatural fame.

2014 — Users were given the option to get Tumblr Pro for free, and those who accepted were given top hats on their icons. Prompty after this, @staff announced that “Everyone with a top hat is now marked for account deletion. This is the only way we could destroy this horrible website. Happy April Fools day.”

2015 — The “Executive Suite 2016 Productivity Edition” essentially changed Tumblr into office software, allowing spreadsheets for memes, calculators that gave incorrect answers, and Coppy. Who gave “helpful tips”.

2016 — Tumblr voted to select the “new lizard king”, from Rick, Debrah, Mop and Wretched Tooth. However, more famously, an edited @staff post reads “for april fools we’re deleting this entire site sayonara you weeaboo shits”.

2017 — The Tumblr Horse Game was a feature that, when clicked, took users to a game wherein you had to collect shit from a pixelated horse. If you failed to do so, the horse died.

2018 — The answer to Bitcoin, is Tumblcoin! A parody of crytocurency.

2019 — Tumblr Memories, in which Tumbeasts were set loose. Remember them? The mascot from 2011, for service interruption announcements.

2020 — There was seemingly no prank this year. This was COVID-19.

2021 — Tumblr released “non-fungible tumblcryptids”, a parody of NFTs. There was a supposedly limited amount of them.

2022 — A light switch, when activated, would open up a variety of colourful things on the desktop dashboard, including a “Summon Crab!” button, which would summon a crab when activated. Other buttons made different sounds.

2023 — A feature similar to the Discord reaction function was temporarily added, using basic emojis.

2024 — Every user was given the option to opt-in to the boop o meter, and could boop, super boop, and evil boop other users who also opted in, earning up to three badges by doing so.

Dan and Phil are Daniel "Dan" Howell, previously known as danisnotonfire and Philip "Phil" Lester, known online as Amazingphil. They are a British YouTuber Duo, and each have two of their own channels ("Daniel Howell", "danisnotinteresting", "Amazingphil", "LessAmazingphil" ) and share a gaming channel "DanandPhilGames" and a... to put it generously, prank channel for April Fools "DanandPhilCrafts". The two met in 2007 and started living together soon after. In 2019 both came out as gay, but stated while they are "actual soulmates", they want to keep the details of their relationship private. They now live in a house in London that they bought. They're currently preparing for their third world tour.

Now that basic info is out of the way, here are some personal opinions of mine on the two

Both started out as storytime YouTubers, but Dan started posting less and less videos in favour of bigger projects and a longer format, partly due to burnout. Phil never stopped but instead of storytime every video has a theme. He does a very specific something. It is very random, very miscellaneous, but very very entertaining.

Both are excellent storytellers and are willing to share their personal stories with the public in hopes of helping people. Dan was the one who helped me learn about depression and understand my own mental health. And Phil never stopped putting a smile on my face.

Now WHEN YOU PUT THEM TOGETHER, oh boy

Here's the thing, their chemistry is unbelievable, they know each other so well, conversations keep flowing between them and it's never awkward. If someone outside attacks them they will defend each other regardless of their social anxiety ("can phil express an opinion") but between the two of them they bicker curse and swear like an old married couple.

They are peak comfort content to me so if you want to see two British lads banter into chaos go check out their channels!

An Album That Helped Me: April Fools

Basically since 2019-2020, when anyone asked me my favorite band, I'd say The Scary Jokes. Sure, they're not as mainstream as some of my other favs like My Chemical Romance or The Beatles, but oh well. And if someone asked my fav album (either from TSJ or in general) I'd say this one; April Fools. The balance of happy sounding vocals and instrumentals with deeper messages like drug use, heartbreak, liminality, and erm... icicles, drew me in the first time I heard it. But even not talking about the vocals or messages, the songs are just catchy. I commonly find myself going back to this album, whether the OG from 2019 or the 2021 remaster. When the remaster came out, I spent the whole day listening to it and marveling over how beautiful it sounded, how crisp it was. I tend to binge the 2019 version, sit in silence for a few minutes, and then binge the remaster just to experience that joy and awe I felt the first time I ever heard it. I've even showed this album to my aunties, mum, and friends. It really is my favorite album, and my favorite songs are Catabolic Seed, Pink Smoke, A Mannequin Adrift, and Toynbee Tiles. But, unfortunately, the story of my affection for this album takes a turn for the melancholy here. I always thought my life wasn't harsh enough for me to have a comfort album. Sure, I had songs that calmed me down, like Sandy Farina's version of Strawberry Fields Forever, but never a whole album that I could use to cope. Until now. My Nani passed away today. My first instinct is to say I wasn't that close to her, so I can push away that sadness and move on, but I can't do that. I literally started learning Spanish to make her proud, since she was Panamanian. I kinda don't wanna keep learning Spanish, since it reminds me of her. But, I can't stop now. Just a few days ago, my parents went to visit her in the hospital, and even though my brother and I were left in my grandparent's house, Nani told my parents to tell me that she was so proud of me for continuing to learn Spanish. I always hoped I could have a conversation with her in Spanish one day, but now I can't. Sure, I can talk with my godfather/her husband, but it just isn't the same. He's proud of me too, but it feels different, you know? I can only end this post off with a lyric from the album; "My world has turned so cold, but I won't cry... because icicles don't soften when they die, so why should I? Why should I...?"

WITHIN TEMPTATION To Release New Single, 'A Fool's Parade'

Dutch metallers WITHIN TEMPTATION will release a new single, "A Fool's Parade", on April 5. The track features a guest appearance by the Ukrainian alt-rock/metalcore artist Alex Yarmak, who has been steadily growing his fanbase since 2021.

In a fall 2023 interview with Metal Kaoz, WITHIN TEMPTATION singer Sharon Den Adel spoke about the band's decision to release its latest album, "Bleed Out", independently, having parted ways with the Vertigo label. She said: "I did this participation with [Dutch trance DJ] Armin Van Buuren once — I wrote a song together with him — so we tasted a little bit of the dance music and we saw that they were doing things so differently, knowing him, knowing the scene and starting to watch what they were doing. They were actually just doing it so not traditionally, as in rock music is known for and metal music. So they are way more fluid in when they can release something. They say, 'Oh, I'm gonna write a song and I'm gonna release it two weeks from now.' They can do that. It's because they think differently and it's a different ballgame. And we felt, like, 'Why aren't we doing that? Why are we always restricted to writing a complete album? And then writing certain songs that you feel are essential or in the moment that you have to release now, because if it ends up on the album, three years later, everybody has talked about it; it's not important anymore.' And they're, like, 'Oh my God. Are they still talking about that? That was three years ago.' That really feels stupid to me. And so we told the record company, 'Can we please just release some songs? Because the album's not going to be out there yet, and we're going on tour with EVANESCENCE. And they said, 'No. We can't do that, because we're traditional. We don't know how to cope with that different way of releasing.' And they still had an option for a new album. And we said, 'Well, then we would like to break up the contracts and go our own way.' And they said, 'Well, maybe you should, because we don't see how we can do this with you.' And we were happy they let us go."

She continued: "[2019's] 'Resist' [album from WITHIN TEMPTATION] was very successful for [the record label], but still, I think that they would not have had happy campers in their company with us [being around]. [Laughs] We're not the easiest maybe also. But in the end, it was the best way and I'm really happy it went the way it is. And it gave us the opportunity to do it our own way. On the other hand, it is more work, because we have to hire now people to do the job that a record company normally does. And you have to think about budgets and stuff like that. Who are you gonna do interviews with? How many interviews? Organize press agents all over. It's, like, oh my God. It's a company on its own. But, luckily, we have a management that does take most of that away. Of course, we have to come up with the ideas and give the goals and everything, but they work it out for us. And so we are not involved in that part, because it takes so much energy away from writing music and being creative, of course, which, you as an artist, never want to [deal with]. You just want to [be], like, 'They do that.' And I'm so happy they do that, because they're good at it. And I don't wanna do this. But then, now it's forced upon us again to do those things as well. And it gives you more freedom, and that's what we wanted."

"Bleed Out" signifies a bold leap forward for the band. From contemporary, hard-hitting, and djenty riffs to soaring melodies displaying their symphonic roots, WITHIN TEMPTATION has created a sonic journey that fuses diverse musical styles and thought-provoking themes. This is an album that is as epic as it is unflinchingly outspoken, and now more than ever, this is a band who isn't afraid to make a stand on issues the members care about.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, WITHIN TEMPTATION have shifted their focus from writing about personal emotions and societal subjects to tackling global injustices and reflecting the tumultuous state of the world in a way that other artists seem unable or unwilling to do.

4 years of Druck S3 - week 4

Things of note in this episode:

First, obviously we all love the end of the episode and there’s really nothing more to say about it after so many people have said so many brilliant things already.  So here, have some of my favourite shots of the end scene:

However, of course there are other things to be said, so here are some thoughts:

1. ‘Why are you religious?  It’s 2019, you’re an intelligent girl’ forcefully reminds me of ‘it’s 2016, get out of the closet’ and it hit me more than usual this time just how grossly ignorant both those statements were.  So, as much as I still think Emma should have apologised to Isak, I also think Matteo definitely needed to apologise to Amira here (like he kind of does later??? But also not really???? Unless I really did forget something).  This statement about her religion is just as shitty as the one about being in the closet and she was 100% in the right to call him out on it.  I get where he’s coming from and why, but yikes.

2.  The start of the in jokes they share with each other - followed up later this episode by Matteo saying he wants cheese toasts again sometime and of course David’s most best social media post ever (not quite this episode, but related!!):

Speaking of these in jokes, I do love that Matteo perks up so much when he gets this stuff from David.  I tend to think of him as someone who overthinks (think of the questions he asks both Jonas and Amira around being gay and how he keeps stepping into trouble because of it when he’s just trying to sort his thoughts out) and after the events at the end of episode 3, his thoughts must have been in a right whirl.  So getting this proof that David is also still in the moment, and calling back to other moments they shared, must have been so relieving for him.

3.  Nothing new here, but I do love how soft his voice goes when he says David’s name.  This guy has it bad!!!! Good thing David is about to show that he’s feeling it all as well :D

4.  Having said that, this whole bit with Sara is so uncomfortable.  Don’t get me wrong, this is super realistic, but it’s still difficult to watch.  First, the way it’s filmed is very clever but also so awkward to watch.  There is a wonderful series of videos which analyses this season which can be found here and goes into detail about how the camera works in this scene so I won’t go into more detail.  But second - Sara’s clearly trying to do silly boyfriend/girlfriend stuff with Matteo but it’s so unnatural and strained/forced.  Of course he isn’t interested in going away together once school finishes!  They’ve only been together a few weeks at most.  And the pregnancy April fool?  Sooooo weird given their relationship and lack of sexual aspects to it.  No wonder his reaction is ????? It’s hard to see her so happy though - she’s trying so hard and wants it so bad that she’s kind of convinced herself that this is something different.

here's a general timeline of sensei centric stories:

liar's idol (2016) -> the first sensei story to release on april fools. covers the foundations of jin and akiomi's dynamic (young and es1) and their idol philosophies and work ethics. cute old people reminiscing on their only youthful memories...

guilty of perjury (2017) -> the second sensei story to release on april fools. goes deeper into jin and akiomi's idol eras and the transition to a new era within the idol industry. more so focuses on jin's super idol perspective. this story was not uploaded to another site due to the translator's wishes. the way people have access to it is by using the wayback machine or through archives. please let me know through message or non-anon ask if you need help.

saga * rushing up rainbow stage (2018) [1] [2] -> aka rainbow. the third sensei story to be released as an actual ranking event. the first to not be an "april fools joke" and the first time and only time a sensei character was given a 5 star card. takes place in es1 era where jin takes up an idol project called "project saga". project saga was made to revive retired idols, to generalize. which he forms a temporary unit with chiaki, hokuto, and tori (rain-bows) while akiomi forcibly forms one with madara, mika, and sora (ba-barrier). not only is it the most important story in regards to sensei lore, but crucial to the development of every main cast character involved. i regard it as akira's magnum opus in enstars. it's 50 chapters long, but i promise you won't regret reading it.

saga * clashing rebirth live (2018-2019) -> aka saga. the sequel to rainbow, which seiya hidaka (hokuto's father) is introduced into the series to join project saga with jun and hiyori. it does focus more on eden and the main cast characters. i can't say much considering that the story isn't fully translated online, but i do think it's an important story in regards to how jin's relationships with jun and seiya are portrayed. it's still in the process of uploading chapters, so please support the proofer!

lullaby (2020) -> the first sensei centric (?) story to be released in es2 era on april fools! if you've seen the ensemble taisou mv, this is the related story for it. though, i do think it's more focused on jun rather than the senseis as a whole. considering that it is jun's fever dream! there are some interesting things revealed by akiomi towards the end of the story...

PORTRAIT (2022) -> this story was marketed to be a model trio story, but it's clear that it's... quite the akiomi centric event. akiomi shows up in all of the chapters except for one, which makes it funny that she's not the five star but a measly 3 star card (when it was released it... felt like a 5000 star card to me if i'm being honest). PORTRAIT is an extremely important akiomi centered story that reveals an immense amount of information regarding her model era, demeanor, worries, and goals at the time. it's also important since we never had a story that was so heavily centered on akiomi, especially with the fact that she wasn't a mere foil to jin this time. it reveals akiomi's importance to the model trio's lives and one of the leading reasons why she left the modeling industry. the first 3 chapters are translated however i cannot link the source publicly. like stated above, message or send a non-anon ask if you'd like to read it.

that's all the sensei centric stories! very crucial reads if you really want to get into the senseis.

however, there are also non-sensei centric stories that i consider to be supplemental reads:

test of courage (2015) -> 2wink centric story. foreshadows akiomi's past with jin, which was later revealed again in liar's idol! you can access that story through wayback machine.

good-for-nothing son and a bad teacher (2019) -> kaoru and jin centric gacha story. only 2 chapters long but drops a bomb on kaoru and jin's parallelisms in regards to their idol images....!? jin gives kaoru a hard-luck story that resonates deeply within him. kaoru finds great comfort in his words and even asks if he could talk to him again if he's having a hard time. it's way too important for the both of them... for a small two chapter story. i'm pretty sure this story is accessible through wayback machine as well. ** i have to warn you about sexual harassment in the first chapter. akira tends to use jin for sexual harassment jokes, where the story literally could've stayed the exact same if we didn't have those bits otherwise. akira does this multiple times and it's extremely ooc to jin's character. (tldr: blame the writer)

antique legend (2021) [available in engstars now!] -> a valkyrie and double face centric event. this was the event where jin and akiomi got their first ever es2 story cameos. they were essentially the spectators of the entire ordeal between the main units, filling in anzu what they know. they also have more personal statements and relate things back to their current working philosophies and how they're treated within the industry. seiya is also there. for what is a spoiler for me to say. but she doesn't directly talk to jin and akiomi in the story (neither do jin and akiomi interact with each other), so you get to see her talk to hokuto and anzu.

fragrance (2021) -> an arashi centric knights event. akiomi is the main cause of arashi's troubles due to the fact that she's offered a job from akiomi's "favorite" perfume company. this was the story where akiomi and arashi became closer to being equals. unfortunately, i can't say much. it's been a long time since i've read it. i'm probably getting punched somewhere...sorry guys... again, i cannot link the source publicly. message or send a non-anon ask if you'd like to read it.

SHINSEKAI (2021) -> a valkyrie and switch centric event. this story fully introduces the SSRVR system (a vr system created by switch). in this event, jin and akiomi were given 3 star cards and players were able to unlock their idol era homescreen outfits. jin and akiomi themselves weren't actually in the story. the idol era jin and akiomi you see in the story are actually just avatars in the vr game and were controlled by es employees. it was implied by natsume that jin permitted the use of his super idol avatar but under the condition that akiomi's idol era avatar would perform alongside him. natsume theorized that it might be because jin and akiomi never got the chance to perform together during their idol eras and wanted to see that dream manifested within vr. this is all you have to know about shinsekai in regards to jin and akiomi. -> seiya and gatekeeper were also there controlling the 2 madonee avatars. seiya also interacts with mika in accordance to his plans of making mika her successor. this story is not accessible, as it is locked.

as an elder (2021) -> madara featured scout 3 star idol story featuring ba-barrier! unfortunately, not all of them interact at once. in this story, madara asks akiomi for assistance with idol work. an argument over a cafe bill. it's a sweet story. give it a read!

bankara (2022) -> jun centric gacha story. this story essentially serves as the gateway for new fans to get a glimpse of what jin had to experience during his idol era. jin gets invited to an idol tv program and accidentally ends up at a female idol tv program... yeah. though, this is the story where tension between jin and jun begin to cease. jun is next in line for jin's hard luck stories and retorts to jin that he doesn't have to keep forcing himself to take up these idol jobs. bankara didn't offer anything new to the table for sensei fans but their interactions were very nice.

graduation (2023) [livetweet] -> third year students / trickstar centric event. due to supervillains' popularity and public desire for jin to show up in the show, rain-bows performs once again. reveals what jin knows about yumenosaki's current situation (more accurately lack of) and how he's taken care of subaru over the years.

phew... was starting to lose steam there, but i think that's everything i wanted to cover! i could cover every sensei appearance if i wanted to but let's not overdo it, me... i could answer questions and refer to them if needed though. but yes, these are all pretty important stories in my opinion. it's not much compared to other characters, but jin and akiomi are one of the best written characters in this franchise. i really hope you can come to appreciate them upon reading their stories.

15 Years of Naoto

It's time for another character appreciation post! And it's one we're long due for: Naoto Shirogane from Persona 4.

February 2009, my first Naoto.

Witness the genesis of my eternal awkwardness drawing The Hat. I might not be able to explain why the hat bedevils me so, but I can take a stab at explaining why I love Naoto so much.

March 2009

Persona 4 wasn't my first Persona. I'd played P3 about half a year earlier. But while I liked it, it wouldn't really light up my brain until 2010's P3P. But P4, that was the first Persona I got excited for. And it largely came down to the characters, and ever since playing it, one of my favorites has been the Detective Prince, Naoto Shirogane.

May 2009

I wish I could remember more specifics from then, what it was or when it was that first drew me to Naoto. The design is great, very stylish and streamlined with a bit of a 60s/70s flair of nostalgia.

September 2009

And I still love the original VA's performance, the measured way in which Naoto typically speaks, the deadpanning, the momentary awkwardness, the heartbreaking vocal lifts during the more painful and dramatic scenes.

November 2009

If you knew me in 2009, you know that whole year was basically sunk in Persona 4 fanfic and fan art and a ton of it was dedicated to Naoto. This was when my original writing was suffering, and I really turned to fandom for artistic expression. I'd written a little Persona fic prior to that, but now I really got into it, and I made friends with a great community of people because of it.

March 2010

I think in some respects Naoto's a character who's taught me a lot creatively. Naoto isn't easy to write – composed, intelligent, mature, but far from bullet-proof, either physically or emotionally. Detached but not unfeeling, seasoned but in many ways very immature and self-conscious. That air of being in command of a situation, even to an intimidating degree, while in reality being this very small person who fears not being taken seriously and then abandoned.

December 2010

For about a year, I probably drew more Naoto than anything else. (You'd think that would let me master The Hat.) To me, Naoto feels very steely, but with this delicate beauty as well, and I enjoyed capturing that. Possibly drawing Naoto again and again influenced my artistic style overall, taking it out of its more angular style in 2008-9 and into the softer more doll-like look of 2010-11.

November 2012

And of course I was and am a fool for the KanNao dynamic. The contrast between their characters, but the way they also compliment each other while coming at things so differently, is so good.

February 2013

As time's gone by, I've lost touch with Naoto artistically. Other interests, both fandom and original arrived, and I don't regret that. Losing touch with a character doesn't mean I no longer like them. But because most of my P4 stuff is in my creative rear view, I look back on it with nostalgia – a short but happy period in my fandom past.

November 2019

Coming back and drawing Naoto feels a bit like revisiting an old house I used to live in, or maybe a school I went to. And even after all these years, I still remember the lines, the shapes – the Naoto-ness.

November 2023

Someone else might look at this one and compare it to the soft, smiling December 2010 Naoto and think that's not even the same character. But not to me. Looking at them, I see the differences, but I still see Naoto in both of them.

April 2024

Naoto's one of those characters who had a big impact on me, my writing, my style. You don't just forget about that.

I got my driver's license last week

We met at a Gabe's christmas party, in 2016. I knew Mel from my older sister, they both worked in the same industry. At 18 years old, I still hadn't learned how to drive due to a car accident when I was a kid. I remember I admitted that after we had spent the night with one another two months after we had been talking. You smiled at me, no amusement, no sarcasm or snort in sight. You genuinely, wanted to teach me how to drive and I remember blushing like a fool, and happy tears brim my eyes. Nobody had ever offered, besides my sister.

The very next time we hanged out, on a sunny April afternoon, you smiled and somehow got me to get in that damn drivers seat. I remember having an anxiety attack, I began to shake and cry. With flashbacks of that horrible accident, with me in the backseat. You instantly jumped out of the car, opened the driver's car and kneeled down next to me. Your hands found mine, then set a hand on my knee. Comforting me as much as you could, not knowing or understanding how I felt. You wiped my tears away, giving me a small comforting smile. I frowned then, my lips quivering. You shushed me, bringing my hands up to your mouth and giving them a kiss. You promised me you were there, and that you'd always be. A few minutes later, you hopped back into the passenger seat and told me that I could do this, even if I went less than ten miles an hour in this abandoned parking lot. Somehow, someway I actually drove. Afterwards we got froyo, and I still remember the absolute horrible stomach ache you got. We barely made it to my aunt's house, a few block's drive. You came out of the washroom, and instantly placed your hands on my cheeks, giving me a huge kiss. I remember smiling, and wrapping my hands around yours. We parted, and you told me right then and there. "There is no chance in hell baby you're not getting your permit now!" You playfully joked, and then we marched down to the DMV.

September rolled around, and so did training camp. You weren't at the DMV like you had promised you'd be. You promised that you were going to fly out a week early just to come with me and be there. Yet, you were not. Then I drove down to downtown Denver, to spend a day in the city shopping before class and I saw you. And I saw her. I swallowed the tears that began to form, before I turned around and out of that coffee shop. Im certain, you noticed my hair as I whipped around.

We were together from Feburary of that year, and seemingly broke up around the beginning of August, though I had no idea. You forgot to mention that part, Ty. I think back to the times of no clarity, times where I felt like I was walking on egg shells. Feeling like I had to be somebody different, though I wasn't good enough. You forgot to remember or failed to realize, how in love I was. But you knew. You knew how I felt, confessing the same exact thing to me. How did that change? How did I not become enough? It took me a few months to finally feel like I could breathe, without feeling guilty. It always felt like one step forward and three steps back. It was like I was the love of your life, then I wasn't.

It made me angry. How could you simply discard me? Was I know longer enough for you? You toyed with me for some time, got bored and dumped me without telling me? Or were we never what I thought we were? Gabe and Mel tried their hardest to be there for me, but you were his teammate; so he could only be there so much for me. Mel didn't understand and her and my sister would have conversations here and there. You Tyson, just didn't seem like the type to do that. Though, here we are. I just don't see how you could be ok with your best friend to slip away like that, or was I never your best friend?

I knew around Feburary, a year from when we started to date; everybody was tired about hearing him. How I would sometimes see him around town with that blonde girl. I knew they were tired hearing of how much I missed you. Though, they'd never understand. Mel and Gabe would never understand where I would come from. I felt sorry for them, that they'd never see that kid like freedom and kid like spontaneity from him. He'd always have to feel like he had to be 'on' around them, in order to be taken seriously.

They'd never know of him showing up to my sister's house at 9 am on a Sunday with coffee and a donut from the bakey down the street. Or the random brunch dates he would drag me to. Though, I always wanted to go. Free coffee, wouldn't you go? I took a gap year between my senior year of highschool and college, and that year was spent intandem with him. We would stay up to late talking with morning walks with coffee, and my sister and I's dog. We would run off to the zoo every so often, or to the Denver art museum, or one time we went to Breckenridge to ski and snowbaord. Though middway through, he found me in the lobby doing an 'Après-ski' but with hot coco and a croissant. He smiled at me, before giggling as he sat down in front of me at the coffee bar. Nobody knew the real Tyson, that so very few understood and witnessed. Despite, him dropping me like I was nothing; I'll be forever grateful for that time of freedom and childlike bliss with him.

Once I got my license, I used to drive to Mel and Gabe's a lot in order to babysit them. You and a teammate named Jt, moved into a townhouse near them and sometimes I'd take the long way to go past; always to see if you were home. I sometimes drive past the zoo, the museums, the canal where we cayaked, the coffee shops and places where we had brunch dates. The bowling alley where some teammbonding and better halves dates happened. There are some days that I just end up at a place, without thinking. Once I park, or catch the street signs; I then realize where im at. Then head home or someplace else. I still love you Ty, and unfortunetly I can't fucking stop. Im afraid I never will.

There were SO many times we got stuck in traffic, where some of our deepest and most revealing conversations happened. Where some of our fights happened, too. So many times I find myself in the passenger seat, hoping that when I looked over to my sister in the drive's seat, it'd somehow be you. And vice versa. Before we started dating, and right after we met you wanted to take me to see the christmas lights around the city. On the 22nd before you left for home in BC. I smiled shyly, and nodded at the christmas party. We drove around the suburbs, looking at the lights before making our way towards the city. We got stuck in traffic ten minutes away from the zoo lights, and for the first time in my life, I felt incredibly connected to somebody my age.

After my parents died in the car accident, with me in the back seat; I always had trouble connecting with those around me because nobody understood what it was like going through something so life changing and horrific. So I kept to myself, especially the four years after. I finally made two friends, but other than that; I did not have anybody. Certaintly, no boy as a friend. You were my first friend guy friend, and that made me warm and fuzzy inside. In the most platonic and innocence way. I kept that hidden until late Feburary, and again no judgement or alternate thoughts came from you. You accepted that huge part of me, one that has forged a barrier between me and driving. Me and growing up as an adult, and moving on in life. I was always scared that when that happened, I'd be leaving a period of life, a chapter of life that my parents were not apart of. I was 14 when they died, and told myself I'd never drive in my lifetime. Then you came along. And while we sat in that traffic, as I struggled to hold it together, you made me laugh. You told me about growing up in BC, playing hockey, your little sister. Everything. How you were lucky to have JT through all of this, and that he was your bestfriend after only meeting him at training camp. For one of the first time's after the accident, I felt safe in a car. And it was because of you.

I reached out to you when the Pandemic began in March 2020, over a year since we had first met. Only seven months after you and I stopped talking, well you stopped talking. I simply just wanted to make sure you were safe, and to see how you were doing without hockey. I thought that you weren't gonna respond, then a crisp 2 minutes later you did. You told me how you were doing, how lonely you were feeling a week into being alone in the townhouse while JT went home to Chicago with his girlfriend. How upset that you were not able to secure a plane ride home to BC. And that you missed me. I remember pausing once that single message came in, and rereading it over and over again. I wouldn't cave though. He didn't deserve for me to cave. So I simply stated, 'me too.' And I left you on read for two more weeks.

After three weeks altogether, I got a facetime from you around 2 am Mountain time and you were having your first anxiety attack. I remember my heart beating out of my chest, not know what to do over the phone. Once you calmed down after about 10 minutes on facetime, you looked me in the eyes and apologized. Apologized for not only dropping me but how you treated me sometimes in our relationship. I nodded, thanking you. Yet, not givig him much to draw on. I again reiterated that I wished you the best, and hung up. I deleted out messages that sat at the bottom of my conversations list. I blocked your number, sighing a breath of relief. I needed that closure without realizing it.

Yet, he'd always be there with a thorn. You'd always have a sore spot in my heart but with a warning sign. Because you promised to be there, after everything we went through and how long it took me to get to said place; and you weren't there. Did you even love me, like I loved you?
